    Riva Greenberg

    U.S. Patient-Expert, Author, Speaker and Diabetes Health Coach

    Riva has lived successfully with diabetes for thirty-eight years. Today she is a diabetes key opinion leader (KOL), key educator and influencer in the diabetes community for both patients and medical professionals. Her work is dedicated to helping patients change behaviour to better manage diabetes and helping medical professionals work more effectively with patients by better understanding the patient experience.

    Since 2004, Riva has been leading facilitative motivational programmes across the U.S. at diabetes expos, health fairs and support groups. She also coaches patients individually to design their own paths forward to achieve better health. In 2009 and 2010 Riva's expertise was sought by Roche Diagnostics Diabetes Care regarding social media. She also advises Dex4, a division of Can-Am Care, as a patient- and communications expert.

    Riva is the author of two books, 50 Diabetes Myths That Can Ruin Your Life and the 50 Diabetes Truths That Can Save It and The ABCs Of Loving Yourself With Diabetes (in English and Spanish). The Myths book was recently translated into Chinese and in July 2010 1,500 copies were purchased by a pharmaceutical company in India for distribution within India.  Riva is also a regular columnist on diabetes and health topics for the internet newspaper, the Huffington Post.

    Riva began her work in diabetes eight years ago conducting interviews with patients and professionals, and continues her interviews, to inform her work and research.  

    Riva’s work is dedicated to helping people with diabetes live an exceptional life, notdespite having diabetes but because of it, by using diabetes as a catalyst to create a healthier, happier, more meaningful life. In 2008, Riva won the Eli Lilly/International Diabetes Federation sponsored ‘Inspired by Diabetes' competition with her submission, "Pride Is the Antidote to Diabetes."

    Riva has worked as a personal growth trainer and facilitator, writer and consultant in change communication. She has lived in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Copenhagen and SydneyClients include Fortune 500 and 1,000 companies and she has received numerous industry awards and accolades.
