    Eileen Murphy

UK Trainer and Practitioner of Health, Family and Social-Care Change Programmes

Eileen Heads Eileen Murphy Consultants & Associates in the UK and works with National Health Service, Drug & Alcohol Recovery and Family Services across the UK and Northern Ireland.   Author of specialist programmes for use in “achieving change” across social care fields, Eileen has 25 years experience as a practitioner and trainer.

In 1993 Eileen Murphy created the Prevention & Intervention Programme, a resource for working with families to prevent breakdown, which has been implemented by nineteen local authorities to date as a front line resource for working with children, young people and their families.

Because the vital elements of this model can be implemented by a range of staff across the Care Sector – the structure of the resource was seen as a valuable "all-round solution" for the Councils who adopted this Programme. Utilizing the Programme initially as a resource to provide preventative and crisis-intervention levels in order to reduce their budgets for front-line social care, this Programme fulfilled this goal while also receiving nominations for Social Care Awards for its Good Practice.

In 2003 the resource was further adapted for utilization by Return to Work projects initiated by UK central government in the North of England. Following the success of this project, in 2007 a commission by the Mayor’s Project (London Mayor) implemented the training resource as a Return to Mainstream programme for community members who had lost employment due to anxiety, depression or social exclusion.  In 2009 the resource was commissioned by Pennine Care NHS (National Health Service) Trust where 150 Acute Mental Health staff was trained in the Author’s Working towards Recovery programme.
